QR Codes for Employee Login
Counterpoint version 8.6.4 allows you to generate, print, and use QR codes for logging in. The QR Code scan replaces a swipe card to log Touchscreen Ticket Entry, unlocking a station, performing manager overrides, and counting and reconciling drawers. The only time a QR code cannot be used is logging into the Counterpoint application from the initial log in screen.
To use a QR code for logging in, you will need:
- Counterpoint Version 8.6.4
- A barcode scanner capable of reading QR codes
A printer
Enabling QR Code Login:
- Select Setup → System → Company
- Check the box for Using QR Codes
3. Choose an option for QR Code Type for Login
a. QR Code for Password Only – This will force a user to enter their User ID and then be able to scan the QR Code for their Password NOTE: Use this option for a more secure login.

b. QR Code for Username and Password – The QR code will be used as both a User ID and Password Entry
NOTE: Use this option for a faster login.
4. Click Save
Creating New QR Codes for Login:
- Select Setup → System → Users
- Enter or look up a User
- Click View QR Code
4. To print immediately, click Print

To save as a picture Click Save to File to save the QR Code
NOTE: The QR code will save as a PNG file that can be printed or sent to a mobile device and used for login.
5. Click Done to close the QR code Window
Generating a Replacement QR Code
If a QR code is compromised or lost, a new one can be generated to keep your Counterpoint environment secure.
To generate a new QR Code for a user:
1. Select Setup → System → Users
2. Enter or look up a User
3. Click View QR Code
4. Click Generate New
5. To print immediately, click Print

6. Click Done to close the QR code Window
Using QR Codes to Log In
When prompted for a login (at any time other than the first log in window to the Counterpoint application):
1. If you are set up for QR code as Password only, enter your User ID
2. Scan the QR Code
3. Counterpoint parses the code and logs you into that part of the application
